Glitterama swirls, edit**added 2 pics & details

 Early morning sun does not capture the sparkle of this mani. First picture is the best of the bunch. Click it to make it gigantic!

Hopefully, I can snatch a few minutes at work today to get some afternoon pics.

Anyway, this mani is for a holiday dinner I am attending with Jim on Monday.

I *really* hope it lasts through the weekend without too much damage or tipwear!

Details;

Base- China Glaze Millennium 1 coat

Overlay- Funky Fingers Wonderland- 3 coats

1 coat Seche

Konad plate- M63- the ever popular swirl pattern

Konad Special Polish Wine Red to stamp.

I *Love* how cool this mani turned out! It doesn't look like a stamped or decaled nail. It looks like a patterned foil. Konad Wine Red is a Jelly, so the base sparkle shows as flashy as the silver!

*edit...Sorry guys. In my zeal to get something up before I left for work, I forgot some details.

I double stamped the swirl image twice on my nails and then some. I still had 1/4" to fill at the tips of thumb, index, middle and ring. I also stamped the image horizontal on those nails as well...with the exception of my thumbs(not pictured). Those I stamped four times. They are so horrendously w i d e,  a horizontal stamp couldn't fill the space. My pinky is the only nail to which I could use the stamp longways also double stamped.

The Funky Fingers trio, Wonderland, Under Mistletoe and Yule Love It, were purchased for 3 @ $5.00 at my Five Below Store. The dry time was lightening fast! 

I'd bet a year's salary that these Funky Fingers are one and the same Color Club Wonderland set. The names are even the identical.

 

 

Bling on the Holidays!

Aren't these Funky Fingers polishes gorgeous? I picked them up 3 for $5 at my local 5 Below store.They're all Jellies with a ton of glitter.... very foil-y looking, making them super bling-y. Funky Fingers are made by Forsythe, the same company that makes Color Club.

I had my fauxnad and Konad plates all picked out for this mani, but given the positive feedback on my last rub-on mani, I decided to go with those instead. Let's face it, plate can get expensive, and really- how many times will a Holiday plate be used?

I *love* how festive this mani turned out! The only thing that could make this better would be the addition of some red rhinestones or jewels for the holly berries, but my picking habit would not allow it- it would be ruined within minutes.

Nfu-Oh 64 Holo tips

Sorry about the sloppy application and equally sloppy photos. No time for clean-up. This mani is temporary. I'll be removing it tonight after work.
Yesterday, I visited yet another salon for my fill. It's actually a Day Spa and is located a block away from my house. Ironically, the girl assigned to my fill looked  un-kept and did not seem like an employee at a Day Spa.. I thought she could do with some of the Spa's services herself. So as I sat in the chair feeling skeptical, I figured that if she did not stink, I'll stay for the fill.

Angel turned out to be quite pleasant-and no, she didn't stink. Aside from some cuticle blending- she did my whole fill by hand with a curved emery board. In all the years of acrylics- no one has done that-I've always been dremeled. She listened and followed through with what I wanted, and did a fantastic job. The only thing I did not like was her paint job- but that's small potatoes and I'm not sweating it.

I brought in my own color OPI Pamplona Purple, and she applied 2 coats. As my usual I asked for no topcoat. I loved their IBD nail dryers, 8 minutes and I was out the door dry.
If my fill doesn't lift, I'll be going back to Angel.

Zoya, Orly haul

Last Thursday, I took advantage of Zoya's Green Friday offer, spend $20 and get a collection of 6 greens. My first experience with Zoya, I used Scrangie's swatches for reference...my picks...Yasmeen, Savita and Isla. I'm a purple lover, so Yasmeen and Savita were pretty much no-brainers, however, I waffled between Isla and Pinta.

(I should have ordered Pinta, because I have an almost exact dupe of Isla- Maybelline #505, Salon Expert Unforgettable Red.)

Aside from that, I'm really happy with this purchase. After some swatching on plastic, I'm loving  (sooo pretty) Yasmeen and (yellower than Orly Enchanted Forest) Envy!

For 2 weeks, I've been stalking my local Sally's for Orly's Metal Chic Collection... (Love at first sight, after seeing it swatched in Mary's Blog, Body & Soul ). I got lucky yesterday, and purchased all three-Solid Gold, Glam Rock and Iron Butterfly!

The skinny on rub-on crafting stickers

For those that asked...
Rub-on stickers, they're not just for crafting. They make an excellent alternative to nail stickers/decals. I actually prefer them to what's available specifically for nails. Rub-ons are cheap, easy to work with and have better staying power than nail stickers, which are notorious for lifting after applying a top coat. Another great thing about rub-ons....there are so many to choose from!

Rub-ons are mounted on clear plastic cards and are packed with a stick resistant, glossy/waxy protection card. It's important to keep the backing card behind the images, especially when cutting, or you run the risk of your image sticking to things you wish it hadn't. The popsicle stick you see is included with rub-ons to help with transfering/rubbing, however, you won't need it to get the image on your nails.

I use tweezers to hold the image,( slide the backing away), and place the image on my nail. To avoid wrinkles and broken lines/images, it's really important to keep it stationary. If the rub-ons you chose are gel like, the transfer will be almost instantaneous the second it touches your nail. Some rub-ons are paperish or a little stiffer, such as the silver snowflakes I used on my last mani, and will require some rubbing. I just use a fingernail to gently scratch over the image.

I apologize for not doing a clean-up before taking pictures. I've been battling some health issues that have gotten progressively worse this last month that have put me in deep depression. I wore CC Wild and Willing all last week, and could not muster up motivation to break out my Fauxnad or Konad plates.
It was an effort to choose the color for this mani. To make things simpler for me I went with something to match my mood- Blue.
I'll be feeling much better after I pick-up a prescription later in the day, and will more than likely change this mani tonight or tomorrow.
