Zoya, Orly haul

Last Thursday, I took advantage of Zoya's Green Friday offer, spend $20 and get a collection of 6 greens. My first experience with Zoya, I used Scrangie's swatches for reference...my picks...Yasmeen, Savita and Isla. I'm a purple lover, so Yasmeen and Savita were pretty much no-brainers, however, I waffled between Isla and Pinta.

(I should have ordered Pinta, because I have an almost exact dupe of Isla- Maybelline #505, Salon Expert Unforgettable Red.)

Aside from that, I'm really happy with this purchase. After some swatching on plastic, I'm loving  (sooo pretty) Yasmeen and (yellower than Orly Enchanted Forest) Envy!

For 2 weeks, I've been stalking my local Sally's for Orly's Metal Chic Collection... (Love at first sight, after seeing it swatched in Mary's Blog, Body & Soul ). I got lucky yesterday, and purchased all three-Solid Gold, Glam Rock and Iron Butterfly!

The skinny on rub-on crafting stickers

For those that asked...
Rub-on stickers, they're not just for crafting. They make an excellent alternative to nail stickers/decals. I actually prefer them to what's available specifically for nails. Rub-ons are cheap, easy to work with and have better staying power than nail stickers, which are notorious for lifting after applying a top coat. Another great thing about rub-ons....there are so many to choose from!

Rub-ons are mounted on clear plastic cards and are packed with a stick resistant, glossy/waxy protection card. It's important to keep the backing card behind the images, especially when cutting, or you run the risk of your image sticking to things you wish it hadn't. The popsicle stick you see is included with rub-ons to help with transfering/rubbing, however, you won't need it to get the image on your nails.

I use tweezers to hold the image,( slide the backing away), and place the image on my nail. To avoid wrinkles and broken lines/images, it's really important to keep it stationary. If the rub-ons you chose are gel like, the transfer will be almost instantaneous the second it touches your nail. Some rub-ons are paperish or a little stiffer, such as the silver snowflakes I used on my last mani, and will require some rubbing. I just use a fingernail to gently scratch over the image.

I apologize for not doing a clean-up before taking pictures. I've been battling some health issues that have gotten progressively worse this last month that have put me in deep depression. I wore CC Wild and Willing all last week, and could not muster up motivation to break out my Fauxnad or Konad plates.
It was an effort to choose the color for this mani. To make things simpler for me I went with something to match my mood- Blue.
I'll be feeling much better after I pick-up a prescription later in the day, and will more than likely change this mani tonight or tomorrow.

Sterling Scrolls

Design inspired by this post in Nihrida's blog. Where Sasa used decoupaged napkins- I wasn't as creative...these are crafting stickers from Michael's.
I love the way these stickers don't look at all like "stickers on nails", but more like nails wrapped or caged in sterling metal plating. Even better description- these stickers look like they were welded on my nails!
Aside from a couple of extra leaves(nails on rt longer than left) all nails are mirror imaged. This mani has everything I love...purple, silver, high contrast.

As some of you know, I've been trying out a new nail salon after my old salon switched to inferior products. I'm currently doing walk-ins instead of appointments, so I can try out each of their techs, iso "the one".

This morning's  tech suggested I shorten my nails. I said "no thank you" at first, but then changed my mind. I really know better than to go against a bad feeling, but I thought that taking them down "a hair shorter (is exactly what I told her)" would be ok.
The girl took off 1/3 of my length! After I got home and examined my mani, I noticed that every nail on my left hand is 1/4" shorter than on my right...and...Just *look* at the sloppy paint job she did. Horrible.
The only thing I was happy with was the color I chose, OPI Sapphire In The Snow.

Polka Dot Bikini- in November, Fauxnad P51

Please excuse the very sad state of my hands, especially the cuticles and bits of my make-up. I was in a rush this morning to to take these pics before I had to leave for work. Maybe I'll splurge on some extra tlc for my hands when I go for my fill tomorrow.
It's a bit over day 2 of this mani, and I'm not tired of it yet.

*Bling- awesome, silver, sparkle-y,  holo stickers found at Michael's. They look like raised gems in gold settings, but they're flat! Finally- A non glitter bling that's almost pick proof!!! No more ruined manis for me. I'm going back to Michael's and stock up.
