Orly, First Kiss- Found- Hercules Beetle!

Hi Kids!
For Readers who are just getting to know me...Up until a year and a few months ago, the only colors I'd wear on my nails were; blacks, charcoal, deep russets, and deep purples. I have my Peers in the Blogsphere to thank for my foray into the world of color- not only where nails are concerned, but in my closet as well!
Black is no longer the *only* color I feel comfortable wearing.

Case in point was my mani over the weekend- Orly First Kiss. Who would have thought I'd ever wear a color like this- and love it? Much like OPI Coney Island Cotton Candy, to which Orly First Kiss is an almost dead on dupe for, this type of color is the perfect foil to all the make-up and Glam I wear. Since understated/safe are not part of my repertoire, I'm going to call this type of color a "neutralizer"...because that's what it does for me- mood included.

If I had to make a choice between the two, I'd pick Orly First Kiss. It went on a bit less streaky, and being sheerer than the OPI, it has an ethereal quality that I'm totally drawn to. I adore this color on me- especially with my all time favorite iridescent, ultra fine, glitter overlay, Love My Nails Dazzling. The glitter particles in this polish are really different from anything in my stash. They stay sparkley and dimensional at all angles...and it was only $.93 at my Walmart. Gotta love that!

Anyway, I *really* don't want to remove this mani. I'm torn between stamping skulls, roses and barbed wire on this or removing.

Something very cool...
A couple of days ago, Amber found a Hercules Beetle at work. Knowing that I would absolutely love it- she brought home...

I do now concede there is room in the world for these shades. It took me a while to love them, had to see them and keep seeing them. Now I have welcomed them into my nailiverse.
Mind you, the Dazzling is what makes this special.

You look great in First Kiss plus Dazzling.  I hear what you mean about not wanting to wear "safe" colors in the past.  And I too have now found just a few "safe" colors that happen to look gorgeous on me, so I wear them once in a while.  Hey, they are flattering and the edgy colors wouldn't be so edgy without the comparison!  I'm on my way to get Dazzling.

I know what you mean. I used to wear black and only black. =) And black & dark red on my nails.
This polish looks so great on you. I'm cheering for some konad... ;)
What a beautiful beetle! I've never seen anything like it before. We don't have this kind of beetles here. If I ever find one, I'll take a photo, so you can see it. =)

The beetle is gorgeous, the nasty dead banana he's crawling on, gives me the willy's, that shit looks nasty! :P

This looks gorgeous with your skin tone! I especially love it with the glitter. Don't get rid of it though...it'd be cool with some stamps.

And the beetle is so cool!! I didn't know they eat bananas.

After reading your post I went out and bought Orly First Kiss.  Then I went to 2 Walmarts to try and find Love My Nails Dazzling.  So while I was looking on the bottom shelf for it, I found five other Love My Nails glitters before I found Dazzling.  Hee hee.  One of which is a silver star plus blue and red strips which I'll use for a fourth of July mani.  I did find Dazzling behind another color so I now have six new pretty glitters sitting in front of me.  Thanks for the great info!  Your nails always look fantastic (even the ones you're not fond of I think are great, too)!  :)

What a beautiful beetle.  You should do a manicure based on the coloring of this.  I don't own this shade and I don't think I've seen it before.  Sure is a lovely shade.  A nude with attitude! Love it.
