Jury still out- Tarte Clean Slate

I'm going to put this face primer on hold until the cooler months get here, because
I'm loving my Every Day Minerals foundation and how it reacts to my oily summer skin sans face primer.
My EDM foundation melds beautifully with my chemistry an hour after application!

review Urban Decay 24/7 & Make Up Forever Khol

I tried both Urban Decay 24/7 and MUFE Khol (black pencils) yesterday- both as a lid liner and waterliner.
And- before I say anything, there is something that needs to be said about me.
I am an Ancient Goth- aka- first generation Goth/Deathrocker. 35 years and still going strong.
My "blacks" are serious business. Without them, I am exposed-naked.

My HG black pencil has been Almay eyeliner crayon contour in #1 black/noir. It's a retractable pencil that goes on smooth, slightly wet and "sets up within a few seconds. It's black-black, and wears all day on my lid, and about 6 hours on my waterline. It's the best black crayon liner around....and it's only $7.99!

So, getting back to UD 24/7 and MUFE Khol....

UD 24/7 went on soft and smooth, but it's not black-black. There is a sheerness/pearl to it that I did not like. Within an hour it totally disappeared from my waterline.

MUFE Khol went on a bit harder, with some major pull on my lids. It's not black-black by a longshot, but better pigmented than UD 24/7. This pencil all but disappeared from my waterline within an hour as well.

Sephora and Ulta mini haul

My daughter, Amber(22) and I went on a mini splurge at the mall yesterday. My must have list was pretty small...Peter Thomas Roth Un-wrinkle Peel Pads, MUFE foundation & a face primer. Between Sephora and Ulta, I walked away with a bit more than that. I spent about $200, Amber did double that. I also dumped $70 on jewelry from Icing (love the India inspired earrings!), and another $20 at Wet Seal for a pot-hole fishnet shirt.

Although I'm a mineral foundation convert, I wanted another choice for the winter months, and have been dying to try MUFE HD. I found a good match with #125 and #130, and settled for the more yellow #125. Last night, I sampled some where I need the most coverage- my nose and inner cheek.
My first thought?
This is a foundation I'm going to have to build/layer...it's not full coverage on my skin.
I'm betting that this lack of coverage is where the mixed reviews amoung the over 35 crowd are coming from. Having said that, here's hoping that Peter Thomas Roth Un-wrinkle Peel Pads live up to the hype.

This product claims to "help minimize pores, clarify the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone."
I tried this several hours ago, leaving it on my skin for the maximun 6 minutes. (I exfolliate daily, so I didn't see a problem with this.)
My first thoughts?
I think I'm going to really like this product!
Although I'm sure it's a temporary reaction, I've been sporting plumper skin for 3 hours!

Out of all the facial primers I tested at Sephora, I settled for Tarte Clean Slate. I really liked how it felt on my skin, and a bonus- it's matte.
I'll be adding Clean Slate to my routine today.

I also purchased two black pencil liners specifically for my waterline. Urban Decay 24/7 in Zero and MUFE Khol. I currently use a gel liner from Aromaleigh, and while I love it to pieces, it flakes into my eyes by the end of the day.

I tried to put back MUFE #18, #75, and Star Powder several times, but couldn't bring myself to walk away. I've been lusting after them for some time.

So, yah...I'm pretty happy with my mini haul.

On eye primers & an experiment!

Using an eye primer is very new to me. Up until 3 months ago, before I switched to minerals, I used my foundation as my eye primer.

I currently have 3 eye primers;
Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Urban Decay Potion & Aromaleigh Eye Primer.
Both TF and UD make my eyes water for hours if I get them in my eyes.
As for AL, while I love the end result, it's really thick and has terrible drag when I apply it to my crepey eyes.

Yesterday, I decided to play Mad Scientist, and doctor up AL Eye Primer.
I now have 2 different primer concoctions.
#1- AL EP mixed with MAC Face and Body Mixing Medium
#2- AL EP mixed with MAC F&B MM, ID Velvet( a silicone based personal libricant), and a bit of my mineral base.

Yesterday, I tried concoction #1. It worked so well, I'm not sure if I need to try #2! I think the only improvement I could make is to purchase AL Primer in medium.
Concoction #1 went on smoothly, minerals went on very well and true to color, and o tearing when some got in my eye.

I took my experiment one step further and did not remove my em last night. This is something I do from time to time, with the same result- my pillow- it's the Shroud of Turin.
Anyway, when I woke up this morning, not only was my pillow clean, my em was fully intact! No creasing, no smudging, no muddy colors!

So, now I have my hg eye primer!

Look Ma, no black eyeshadow!

I'm retracting/deleting my last post concerning Glamour Doll. After perusing several blogs, a 4 to 6 week turn time is not unusual for these indie companies.

Besides having said that, Strawberry Cupcake (by Glamour Doll ) was totally worth the wait! Honestly- if it wasn't so frosty, I'd say it was the perfect color!

On to the eyes!

On crease and upward & lower lashline- Strawberry Cupcake(Glamour Doll)

On top of Str Cup, almost all the way up- Nico (Aromaleigh)

At inner & outer crease and at crease slightly up- Diva (Heavenly Naturals)

Highlight- Trucco Angelface duochrome yellow

On top of highlight- Sylph (AL)

Gel liner- Blackout
